Oracle vs SQL server ?

In what way is SQL server better than Oracle Database server?I would say that depends who you ask!
There are many heated discussions on such a topic. There is no right or
wrong answer for it either.
Determine what RDBMS is best suited for your needs in order to make a
judgment on which is better.
Both are feature rich enterprise database systems that are flexible and
scalable.
You need to clearly define your requirements for a database system, then
weigh those requeiments against the features and functionality of the
various systems.

all the data you can possibly imagine there (at least in regards to
performance comparisons)
Greg Jackson

business needs. If you are in the fortunate position of having carte blanche
to choose a DBMS then there are many factors you could consider. More often
though these decisions are heavily influenced by existing resources:
hardware, software and especially human resource. If your organization has a
big investment in a particular product or platform then the costs of
shifting to use a different technology may be a formidably high barrier to
change. It could be difficult to offset that cost just by looking at feature
by feature advantages of another product.
BTW don't become unduly fixated on any differentials in purchase prices.
Software purchase is typically only a tiny part of development and ownership
costs.

So if resources are unlimited, then Oracle is better than SQL server,
otherwise if there is a comparison of feature/price then SQL server is a
winner
Correct me if I'm wrong, just point me out why SQL server is better than
Oracle [I'm no fan of either of them, and I want facts rather than having
opinions from hardcore developers not wanting to shift from your fav
database server (may it be Oracle or SQL server)]

I would say that SQL Server, ORACLE, Sybase, DB2 ALL Have their advantages
and divantages.
If anyone tells you that ORACLE blows SQL Server away, then they are simply
mistaken, or they are technology bigots.

One point would be helpful where SQL server is better than Oracle ? or vice
versa

My understanding is that SQL Server is cheaper (but I dont necessarily know
if that holds true)
I know that "Currently" ORACLE does better on VLDB's (Very Large Databases
over 1Terabyte and larger).
However, with each release of SQL Server, Microsoft is catching up quickly.
Oracle will run in a unix environment
Microsoft DBA's are cheaper to hire.
